Assessing your power consumption is a significant overhead for Data Centre operators and the amount of power consumed by your servers has a direct effect on the fees for colocating your equipment. When you are considering investing in new servers, it is well worth considering their power consumption as this is one of the most significant factors in the cost of running IT equipment. As a rule of thumb, energy efficient servers though initially more expensive will save you money in the longer term, as they will offer lower power consumption and cost less to colocate.
